Archdeacon of Norwich
Archdeacon Keith was installed as the Archdeacon of Norwich at Norwich Cathedral on 1 October 2022, succeeding Karen Hutchinson who served as Archdeacon of Norwich since 2016.
Revd Canon Keith James was born in New Zealand but his childhood was spent in the North West of England.
He studied at Leeds University and has served in Lincoln and Worcester dioceses in parish ministry in rural and urban settings. He moved to Norwich in 2015 to be the Continuing Ministerial Development officer for the diocese and Residentiary Canon of the Cathedral.
In 2020, his Diocesan role changed to become Director of Ministry and in March 2022 he became Interim Archdeacon of Norwich in addition to this, and later on Archdeacon of Norwich.
Revd Keith is married to Linda; a special needs teacher and they have three adult children. He enjoys tea, travel and live sport, especially following the England cricket team and the mighty Burnley Football Club.
Archdeacon of Norfolk
Archdeacon Steven was installed as Archdeacon of Norfolk in Norwich Cathedral on 29 April 2012.
Born in 1964, Steven’s childhood was spent in Nottingham and he studied Chemistry in York. He then trained for ordination at Cuddesdon and served a curacy in Canterbury Diocese before moving to Norfolk in 1994. He has held a variety of posts in the Diocese of Norwich including as Bishop’s Chaplain, Vicar of Old Catton and Bishop’s Officer for Ordinands and Initial Training (working with ordinands and curates).
He has been chair of the House of Clergy in the Diocese and was one of the Diocesan representatives on the Church of England’s General Synod.
Steven is married to Sarah, a clinical scientist, and they have three sons.
Archdeacon of Lynn
The Venerable Catherine Dobson
Catherine was installed as Archdeacon of Norfolk on 1 October 2022.
Catherine was born in Norfolk and went to school in Norwich. She trained on the Eastern Region Ministry course and served her curacies in the Diocese of Peterborough.
Catherine returned to Norfolk in 2014, serving as the Rector of the Coastal Group. She became Rural Dean and a member of the College of Canons at Norwich Cathedral in 2019, and Chapter Canon in 2020.
Catherine is married to Steve, and they have two children in their twenties. She enjoys walking, especially along the coast. She plays the piano, but not when anyone is listening!
