Baby Basics – West Norfolk

A group of volunteers who provide essential items for vulnerable mums with newborns

We are a small group of volunteers that meet once a week to provide vulnerable mums with essential items for their new born baby.

Baby Basics works with Midwives, Health Visitors and other professional bodies to provide starter packs. We help vulnerable groups such as teenage mums and women fleeing domestic violence.

Our Moses baskets provide a safe bed to sleep in and are packed full of essentials such as nappies, wipes, maternity pads, as well as blankets, towels and baby clothes from newborn to three months. For some, these are the only items they may have for their baby.

We believe that Baby Basics show’s God’s love in action.

If you have a new mummy/client that has nothing, or very little, please email us at babybasicwestnorfolk@gmail.com as we would love to help them.

All we ask is that you provide the following details:

  • Mummy’s name
  • Baby’s due date
  • Gender (if known)

In order for us to provide mums/clients with the relevant items, further details may need to be advised. For example, the expected weight of a baby (if small), if a bath or extra blankets etc, is required. These details can simply be added to the email request.

We like to have as much notice as possible as we are a small team of volunteer that meet once a week (Tuesday).

The details will be placed on the system and I will email you with a collection date. We ask that the professional collects the basket when the mum is 36 weeks, we will however, always accommodate an emergency. All collections should be made from St Nicholas Church, Dersingham between 11am-12noon. However, in the event of an emergency we will always try to accommodate your request where possible.
