St Mary’s Church Long Stratton to host a massive food give-away
15 September 2020
Waveney Foodbank will be laying out hundreds of kilograms of free food on tables in a Norfolk church for people to take away.

An initial event of this type was held at St Mary’s Church Long Stratton (on the A140) last Saturday, and it will be repeated at the same venue from 11am to 12.30pm on Saturday September 19.
All the food has been donated by major supermarkets for distribution in the community. Everybody is welcome and the food is free of charge.
Waveney Foodbank is working in partnership with the charity FairShare to give away food which has overrun the sell-by date, is short-date, or is in the wrong packaging. The food would otherwise have to be destroyed.
Two or three of the families who came to the initial event were registered with a foodbank, and some simply had an interest in green issues and did not want to see food to go waste.
A successful scheme of this type was previously run in Harleston for twelve weeks.
There will be strict social distancing on the day; please bring bags and an egg box.
