Could you help a child fulfill their true potential?
1 September 2021
Did you know a child comes into care every 20 minutes in the UK?
This month Norfolk County Council is highlighting the need for more foster carers.
There are hundreds of children seeking a foster home in Norfolk. All of them need someone they can talk to and trust, someone who appreciates them as individuals and is prepared to celebrate their achievements and successes with them, someone who’s always there to provide the encouragement, patience, and support required to help local children in our area make the most of their lives.
Are you the kind of very special individual who can help care for a child that isn’t their own? Someone who can put a roof over their heads, food on their plates, and hope in their hearts?
Whatever walk of life you come from, there is no prejudice, discrimination or barriers to stop you from making a life-changing difference to a child or young person.
If you feel you could make a real difference, then please contact Norfolk County Council Team on 01603 306649 or visit their website for further information. Or you may wish to hear first-hand from our Foster Carers about their experiences in fostering, these can be viewed on their YouTube channel: Norfolk Fostering Service – YouTube.
“I was involved in children’s work from the age of 17 at church. When we found we were unable to have our own birth children we investigated fostering and it was recommended to consider both fostering and adoption to be clear which to pursue. We decided to apply to become foster carers and were accepted into mainstream fostering. We wanted to be involved in the care and development of children experiencing extra life challenges, driven I believe by our experience of the love and acceptance of God, family, and friends who celebrated our happiness and achievements however large or small. I had always had a desire to work with those with additional needs so transferred to working with children with disabilities after a few years. We have found this life-enhancing, and although challenging at times believe we have developed skills and been greatly blessed. The enthusiasm and support of our family, friends and church family have been immense and they have loved the children too. We have found the support of our Social Worker, support worker and the team invaluable too.” – Foster Carer BG
