Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete the INEQE safeguarding audit survey. The aim has been to reach as many people as possible within the Diocese of Norwich and to receive responses from different groups. Those groups include the Cathedral community, the Parish community, children, victims and survivors, the Parish workforce, DBF and Bishops Staff and Cathedral staff.
These surveys will act as a mechanism through which individuals can comment on matters relevant to the audit’s focus. The surveys are both anonymous (the audit team are not seeking to identify individuals) and confidential (individuals will not be identified in our report). The purpose of the surveys is to enable the audit team to conduct a wider analysis of practice across Church bodies and give individuals the opportunity to contribute to the audit. No one from the Church of England or other body will be provided with or have access to survey responses.
The Bishop of Thetford, the Rt Revd Ian Bishop is the lead Bishop for safeguarding in the Diocese. Bishop Ian says:
“I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete the safeguarding surveys ahead of the INEQE audit in early January. There has been a very encouraging response to the challenge which demonstrates just how seriously everyone takes the issue of safeguarding. It also shows how much you care that we as a Diocese get our response right to those who have suffered abuse and to ensure we develop a really healthy culture of love and care across the Diocese. There is still time to take part if you haven’t yet completed the survey, but time is running out. So, click on the links and get involved and encourage those you know to do the same.
