Be Bold, Be Brave and keep knocking at the door

Sarah will be ordained in June and will be Assistant Curate at St Stephen Church in Norwich. This is Sarah’s story about her journey to faith and ordination.

What was your journey to faith?

Mine was a really gradual faith journey. I started investigating in my late 20s and the more I got involved in my local church in London, the more I wanted to know, the more time I wanted to spend with people, adn the more I wanted to serve and that’s where it all began.

What was your route to ministry?

It basically started when I was looking at some scripture and I remember Jesus calling his first disciples and saying ‘come and see’ and I was doing that on a regular basis and I began to think about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, I loved my job and I really enjoyed it, but I wanted to do more. So I looked into what it would mean to be ordained and I haven’t looked back.

What are you most looking forward to?

I’m just looking forward to serving God every day and seeing what he has in store, and not just for me , but the congregation and Norwich that I’ll be serving as a whole, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store and what he’ll do.

What advice do you have for anyone thinking about a call to ordination?

Be brave, be bold and keep knocking on that door. Try and do different placements, speak to people in different forms of ministry and give things a go, and you will know if God is calling you for this to be a big part of your life.
