The Mattishall and Tudd Valley benefice seeks to make Jesus known to all, working collaboratively for church growth, encouraging and deepening vocations and links with their communities.

  • The benefice is situated six miles to the west of Norwich with good transport links along the A47.
  • The benefice employs an administrator (3 days a week) who is based in the benefice office.
  • The ministry team is made up of a self-supporting ordained minister and three licensed lay ministers. There are experienced, committed Churchwardens and PCCs and supportive congregations.
  • The Vicarage is well placed in the village of Mattishall, the largest of the villages, and is an attractive and comfortable 4 bedroom home.

The benefice seeks a priest from an evangelical tradition who will

  • reach out into our communities to spread the gospel with passion and sensitivity, pioneering new initiatives with others in our villages, particularly to under-represented groups in the community, e.g. men, children and young people
  • encourage individual gifts, growing and nurturing through sound teaching and discipleship, fostering wisdom and maturity of Christian faith in the congregations.
  • provide strong leadership into the future with vision and enthusiasm, whilst valuing, empowering, encouraging and developing with a collaborative leadership style, all-member ministry.
  • enable the different congregations to build on their individual strengths.
  • understand rural life and the need for pastoral care and to have good communication skills.

Key characteristics of post holder:

  • an ordained priest in the Church of England, or a Church in communion with the Church of England with a desire to see lives transformed by Christ
