Church Care and Development Adviser

Posted on: Thursday 17 March 2022 | Diocese of Norwich
Norfolk
Following retirement, the Diocese is looking to appoint a full time Church Care and Development Adviser.
The Diocese is looking for a suitably experienced person to support and assist in the delivery of our work with Church buildings. In particular, working with the parochial church councils (PCCs) on developing church buildings in order to sustain them as places of worship while conserving their historical and architectural significance and providing guidance on the faculty process and funding.
The Church Care and Development Adviser will work within the Church Care and Development team which is at an important stage in the life of the diocese. A Church Buildings Review has begun and the postholder will be expected to assist in a comprehensive study of the role of our churches, their future use and imaginative solutions to difficult situations. This is likely to involve the Diocesan Churches Trust, the use of Festival Church designation and perhaps church closure. The post holder needs to be sympathetic to these options as well as mindful of our obligations as custodian of a very significant number of listed buildings.
This is an exciting time as we care for our many historic buildings, but also imaginatively review their future and look for innovative and challenging solutions.
