Vicar to run, swim, and cycle for Norfolk Churches Trust bike ride

10 September 2020

The Revd David Longe of the Matlaske Benefice is taking on a triathlon to raise money for churches in his benefice and the Norfolk Churches Trust as part of their sponsored bike ride on Saturday 12 September.

David will start his journey in Sheringham, run to the sea, swim to Beeston Regis, and then cycle via as many churches as possible on his way to Matlaske. He hopes to be joined by two churchwardens and as many as eight other people from the church community on the tour de force. The money he raises will be split between the NCT and the churches of the Matlaske Benefice.

Many people across the Diocese of Norwich will be taking part in the annual NCT sponsored bike ride in a number of different ways; walking, running and cycling around the Norfolk countryside to raise money for their churches and the NCT. There is even a chance for the parish with the most funds raised to win £1,000 for their church.

Speaking about his tour of Norfolk churches, David said, “I hope, as a result of this endeavour, any money raised will enable our churches in the Matlaske Benefice to flourish in their mission to radiate the love of Christ through serving all in these communities in this wonderful corner of God’s creation. Money will also go towards the Norfolk Churches Trust which does amazing work in helping to care for churches throughout Norfolk, indeed I am aware that many of our churches in this Benefice are indebted to grants that NCT have provided to ensure that they continue as flourishing houses of God.”

There is still time to sponsor David, please click “DONATE HERE” to see his JustGiving page.
