The first stop was at St Andrew the Apostle, Holt with a Eucharist led by Bishop Graham, followed by a sandwich lunch with the Deanery Chapter. During lunch, Bishop Graham and the Chapter chatted about the joys and challenges of ministry during these exceptional times.
Lunch had and walking boots donned, Bishop Graham and a group of pilgrims set off for the Letheringsett Mill.
The mill is a working water-powered flour mill which remained open for the duration of lockdown, milling flour for the local population. Bishop Graham was able to meet and talk to one of the millers, who took the Bishop and his fellow walkers on a detailed and fascinating tour of the mill.
While in the village, the pilgrims walked down the road to St Andrew’s Church, Letheringsett. There they met some members of the community who are keeping the building open for private prayer and heard a little about the local history of the area.
From there, the pilgrimage walk turned to All Saints’, Thornage, followed by St Mary’s, Stody – where there was waiting refreshment in the form of locally-squeezed apple juice.
At each stop, Bishop Graham paused to pray for the church and the local community, interceeding on their behalf.
After many steps and miles travelled, the final church on the prayer pilgrimage was All Saints’, Briston, where Bishop Graham led evening prayer.
