The dedicated nurture space which will have a traditional school environment will be installed in the wooded garden area of the school and it will take up to 12 students from September 2021.
A full-time nurture teacher and two learning support assistants are being employed and they will be supported by SEND Manager, Carolyn Whittleton.
Richard Cranmer, CEO of St Benet’s Multi Academy Trust said: “We are very proud of Archbishop Sancroft High School’s hard work in developing their nurture approach to learning. We are in no doubt that Covid has had a huge impact on our students, so the timing is right to launch this ready for the start of the new year. We believe we are leading the way in taking a unique step in developing our ‘one size does not fit all’ approach to learning.
“In addition, the students will have classrooms that will adhere to their needs, such as free format classrooms and flexible spaces which will be adapted for art, drama, play and sensory areas.”
Emma Johnson, School Business Manager said: “For now, the space we have will take up to 12 children, but in time we can see this evolving as we help more children in need of this type of dedicated nurture learning environment.”
