Harry walks the Peddars Way for Tearfund

Harry had felt overwhelmed about what was going on in the world and wanted to do something to make a difference. He decided to fundraise for Tearfund because he had heard about the charity from his friend at school and wants to help other children and families. Originally he and his friend were going to have a cake sale at school but with COVID-19 that couldn’t happen. Harry’s grandad suggested walking the Peddars Way during the summer, and Harry decided to do that instead nad ask people to sponsor him to raise money.

On seven days throughout his summer holiday, Harry and his grandad (with a few extra supporters along the route) will walk the 46 miles from Knettishall Heath, Suffolk to Holme-Next-The-Sea. His mum Harriet Beckett said, “Each day they’ll average about 6.5 miles which will be tough for little legs but he’s determined to do it. And if you know Harry, you’ll know how competitive that Beckett spirit is in him!”

Harry has completed three of the walks and has found it enjoyable, ‘It’s been an adventure so far.’ he said. He has enjoyed walking with his grandad and Dad and has lots of extra people joining him for the next few walks. He has really loved seeing the beautiful places in Norfolk along the way.

Tearfund are a charity who empower and support people all around the world to unlock their gifts helping them escape poverty. Moved by stories of change he’s heard about, Harry knew he wanted it to be for Tearfund.

If you are able to, please donate to encourage, support and cheer on our little man who shows empathy and compassion beyond his years and just wants to make a difference.

Harry has raised £660 of his £1000 target.

His walks are as follows:

  • Walk 1 – Knettishall Heath to Stonebridge
  • Walk 2 – Stonebridge to Little Cressingham
  • Walk 3 – Little Cressingham to Procession Way, North Pickenham
  • Walk 4 – Procession Way, North Pickenham to Castle Acre
  • Walk 5 – Castle Acre to Harpley Dams
  • Walk 6 – Harpley Dams to Fring
  • Walk 7 – Fring to Holme-Next-The-Sea
