Loving our neighbours – St Thomas Norwich reaches out

The Love Your Neighbour Team at St Thomas Norwich church is supporting people who have been impacted by Covid-19 who may be self-isolating, unable to get out or are vulnerable, by picking up prescriptions, shopping, telephone support and prayer

The STN Love Your Neighbour team supports people in the local community through a practical help and chaplaincy model and this has now been extended to cover needs emerging with the current crisis.

Julian Bryant from the team, said: “The Love Your Neighbour Team works through over 30 volunteers many of whom have been DBS checked. We accept self-referrals and referrals from groups, churches and agencies. We have supported people who are in self-isolation by picking up prescriptions and keeping in touch through the telephone.

“We can also shop for people or liaise with other groups to ensure food is given. We will also encourage our team to volunteer with other groups and charities.  We will match volunteers with requests to ensure there is a good match.”

How can you help other projects: We can promote volunteering opportunities and are very happy to work in partnership. If there is a need to support someone in Norwich then we are happy to discuss what we can do to help. We are also happy to share our guidelines documents for volunteers etc.
