SUMMARY:Eco Church Forum – understanding and demystifying food choices
DESCRIPTION:This will be our first in-person Eco Church Forum for anyone on an eco journey in their church community. \nThe aim is to inform\, equip and inspire us to think through and approach the sections of the A Rocha UK Eco Church survey that relate to food choices. We are aware of the complexities of a global food system that ensures that most of those with the least resources (in the UK) resort to cheaper\, ultra-processed food. Recent research highlighted Norfolk as actually having higher than average rates of malnutrition – mostly in our elderly population\, but also in some children. There is a perception\, and a reality that the LOAF principles highlighted in the A Rocha survey would be very hard to achieve by many in these lower-income communities and indeed\, by many of our churches who provide food for their local communities. \nThe chair of our Environment Working Group\, the Revd David Longe will chair a panel discussion with three participants from Norfolk and Suffolk: Peter Emmrich on global food security\, the Revd Leon Collyer on regenerative farming and Anna Sweeting on healthy eating on a budget. \nWe’ll be inviting open discussion and questions. Any practical\, encouraging examples you can bring to the discussion would be helpful! \nYou can now join us online via this Zoom link: https://dioceseofnorwich-org.zoom.us/j/83767657935?pwd=NkZjSmluc2oxOFJlaUIwbXlkcWtlQT09 \n Meeting ID: 837 6765 7935 \nPasscode: 868512 \nWe’ll start with refreshments at 6:30pm to begin the discussion at 7:00pm.

SUMMARY:The Norwich Gilbert and Sullivan Society

The cast includes Thomas Monument\, Andrew Inglis\, Andy Weston\, Jon Bennett\, Tim Hurst-Brown\, Rachel Goodchild\, Genevieve Plunkett\, Janet Theobald and Victoria Monument. Beverley McInnes is Musical Director\, Andy Weston is Producer\, and there is a supporting chorus. \nRUDDIGORE was premiered at the Savoy Theatre\, London in January 1887\, where it ran for 288 performances. The show then toured the provinces for the rest of that year. Thereafter\, it was not professionally revived until the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company staged it in 1920\, when it took on a new lease of life and proved very popular. The D’Oyly Carte continued to perform the opera right up until the company closed in 1982. When the D’Oyly Carte visited the Theatre Royal\, Norwich for the last time in May 1981\, RUDDIGORE was in the repertoire. \nRUDDIGORE has been performed on five different occasions by the East Norfolk Operatic Society. The company was to have staged the show in 2021 but had to abandon the project due to lockdown. Gilbert and Sullivan enthusiasts now have a great opportunity to hear Sir Arthur Sullivan’s lively music coupled with W. S. Gilbert’s biting wit in this concert version of RUDDIGORE. Admission is free and refreshments will be available in the interval. Don’t miss it!
