SUMMARY:NCCL It's all Greek to me!
DESCRIPTION:What difference does it make to know something of the original language of the New Testament? We’ll look at how New Testament Greek works as a language\, and how it differs from English; we’ll consider the challenges of translation\, and how it is that varying translations of the same words or sentences come about; and we’ll look at some examples where this happens and consider the implications for Bible reading and study. \nNo knowledge of Greek is required! You might find it fun to look at the alphabet beforehand – try this site: https://www.greek.divinity.cam.ac.uk/. \nLed by Dr Jane McLarty\, for Norwich Centre for Christian Learning (NCCL)

SUMMARY:The use of Art and Images in RE
DESCRIPTION:RE is a creative subject! Often RE can seem hard to access and hard for many children to visualise. This half day course will explore how images and artwork can be used to a) introduce a concept in RE b) be a stimulus to generate curiosity in pupils c) be a way to capture learning and assess understanding in RE. The session will look at resources freely available to support the three lenses of RE – Theology\, Philosophy and Social Human Sciences. It will provide ways to use images and artwork to enthuse\, engage and envelop children’s learning in RE. SUMMARY:Sight Loss Friendly Church (SLFC) Q&A
DESCRIPTION:Sight Loss Friendly Church (SLFC) is our exciting initiative to help churches to become accessible for people with sight loss. SLFC are providing some free sessions on Zoom for churches to find out more about SLFC. \nSLFC Q&A is a 1 hour session where you can meet SLFC’s expert panel from Torch Trust and ask your questions around welcoming and including blind and partially sighted people in all aspects of your church. No question is too embarrassing\, we’re all at different stages in our sight loss friendly journey. \nAs well as asking our experts\, churches with experience of inclusion are also welcome to chip in with hints and tips on how they have overcome any challenges.

SUMMARY:St Mark's\, Oulton Broad 'Green Day'
DESCRIPTION:We are planning to have fun\, enjoy some cake and a drink\, and hopefully learn a thing or two. \nSt Marks\, Oulton Broad (silver award Eco Church) – are holding a Green Day on Saturday 1 June (10 – 2). Local people and groups from further afield will be highlighting their Green initiatives; from running a hedgehog haven\, nurturing honey bees to raising the issue of coastal flooding. Our local MP\, prospective candidates\, councillors and environmental groups (such as the Christian Climate UK and Use Your Voice Lowestoft) will be in attendance. \nSome issues have very serious implications – but nature’s ability to recover is amazing too. We need to have hope. Indeed there is much joy in recognising and encouraging a healthier environment for us all (nature and mankind alike). Join us to share the journey.
