SUMMARY:Walking in the way of St Francis - with Brother Sam

In this special event\, we will mark the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’ death\, as Brother Sam shares insights into the life of St. Francis and explores how his example can inspire us today in our walk with Jesus. \nBrother Sam\, who lives in a Franciscan community in Plaistow\, is dedicated to caring for those in need and is deeply passionate about God’s creation. Known for his love of Jesus and his work as a speaker\, author\, and retreat leader\, Brother Sam will guide us in reflecting on how St. Francis’ life can help us find deeper meaning in our lives today. \nEveryone from across the Diocese of Norwich is warmly invited to attend this inspiring evening. No booking is required—just come along and be part of this special time together. Refreshments will be served after the talk. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Youthscape Essentials Central
DESCRIPTION:The Youthscape Essentials course is our training for all those involved or interested in being involved\, in youth ministry in your local church\, school or community. This is more than just a training course\, it’s formational. Youth work isn’t just a technical skill you pick up and ‘do’ nor is it merely a mass of information for you to download. Fundamentally\, we want to help form you as a Christian\, a disciple of Jesus\, and for a love of working with young people to flow out of that. It’s communal too. You’re taking this course as a collective\, a team\, where you can share with and learn from each other\, growing in a community mindset– because God’s vision for the Church is not merely assorted individuals but one harmonious\, diverse family.\n\nThe course will be delivered in a hybrid style\, mixing local in person sessions with online sessions for the whole group\, allowing to explore your ministry as a local team whilst also being inspired by the stories from across the diocese!\n\nSo\, come and join this amazing journey\, invest in your ministry and your Christian discipleship\, and simply select the local hub that will work best for you!\n\nFor more information about the Youthscape Essentials course then visit www.youthscape.co.uk/yse/home

SUMMARY:Eco Church Festival Evensong
DESCRIPTION:Rogation Sunday · 10 May 2026 · Norwich Cathedral\nYou’re invited to join us at Norwich Cathedral for a Rogation Sunday Festival Evensong giving thanks for God’s creation and celebrating the progress of parishes across the diocese in the Eco Church survey programme.\nRooted in the ancient tradition of walking the land in prayer\, we gather to bless the earth\, honour faithful action\, and renew our shared commitment to creation care. With a variety of stalls from environmental organisations\, a chance to picnic in the Cathedral Garth\, and a joyful procession out of Evensong around the Close\, we celebrate being part of a growing movement of churches seeking to live out the gospel through practical love for God’s world.\nWhy not bring a banner or flag to process with\, made from upcycled and re-used materials as a celebratory symbol of your parish’s creation care journey? Come and share your stories\, triumphs and challenges with one another.\nSunday 10 May\, from 1:30pm (Evensong at 3:30pm)\nThe eco stalls and picnic opportunity (bring your own or purchase from Bread Source in the Refectory) start from 1:30pm in the cloister and garth\, with Evensong starting at 3:30pm\, ending with the procession around the grounds. DESCRIPTION:The Youthscape Essentials course is our training for all those involved or interested in being involved\, in youth ministry in your local church\, school or community. This is more than just a training course\, it’s formational. SUMMARY:Balance - Ministry Family Day
DESCRIPTION:A day out for households where an adult is employed in church ministry; such a clergy\, chaplains or children and youth workers. \n\n\n\nIf you work in church ministry and have under 18’s in your household\, then come and enjoy a family day at the Horstead Centre with: \n\n3 exciting outdoor activities\, led by instructors.\nTime to meet\, chill and chat with other families and share your experiences\nBBQ to finish\n\nParticipation for younger children (approximately 4 years+) will depend on the individual child’s ability\, fitting into equipment and confidence. This will be something that the instructors will have to chat to the parent/legal guardian about on the day before the activity starts. \nMembers of your party who are younger than 4 years or would prefer not to take part are still welcome\, but please register them as ‘non-participants’ and some alternative activities will be available. \nRefreshments \nRefreshments and snacks will be provided on arrival and during the day\, but please bring your own packed lunch. \nA catered BBQ will be provided at the end of the day 5pm-6pm. Please let us know when booking if you have any dietary requirements and whether you will be staying for the BBQ. \nHow much does it cost? \nThere is no charge for the day\, we want to treat you! \nBut regarding cancellation…. \nWe offer this event for free as an opportunity for those in ministry to enjoy a day with their family\, we see it as a great investment but it’s disappointing when people cancel at short notice or don’t turn up on the day. The impact of this is that it takes valuable places away from others who may otherwise have booked and costs us financially and in administrative time. If you book and find you can no longer attend before the booking deadline\, please contact us / cancel your booking so the tickets can be released. Cancellations after the booking deadline and no-shows on the day will be charged at £10 per ticket. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to be good stewards. \nBooking \nAdvance booking is required. The booking deadline is 11.59pm on Sunday 26th April. \nIt is essential you book by the deadline as we have to confirm arrangments with the Horstead Centre. Unfortunately we are unable to take bookings after this date. \nTicket types: \n‘Participant’ ticket – for anyone (over the age of 4 years) who would like to participate in outdoor activities led by the Horstead Centre instructors (subject to the instructors approval). \n‘Non-Participant’ ticket – for anyone under 4 years of age or anyone over 4 years of age in your party who does not wish to participate in any of the instructor led activities.

SUMMARY:LECTIO DIVINA - a way of being with scripture and other sacred texts
DESCRIPTION:We host a monthly group Lectio Divina session in the cathedral library\, on the SECOND FRIDAY of every month at 2.30pm. \nLectio Divina is a contemplative way of reading the Bible\, focusing on a short passage and allowing it to speak to us. The passage is read aloud\, and we may share a word or phrase that resonates with us\, but without discussion. It is a traditional Benedictine approach to the scriptures. \nOpen to all\, readings and full outline of the approach provided. Come along to try it out\, or contact Gudrun at gwarren@cathedral.org.uk if you would like to know more.
