SUMMARY:Community: Living Well Together – Schools Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, St Peter Mancroft Church\, Norwich\, will host a new exhibition created by pupils from schools across the Diocese of Norwich\, including St Michael’s Bowthorpe\, Old Catton Primary\, St Nicholas’ Priory Great Yarmouth\, Hopton CE Primary\, Cringleford Primary and The Avenues Junior School. \n\nThis resource has been created through a collaboration between the Diocese of Norwich\, Norfolk County Council and partner organisations across Norfolk to support schools and communities in exploring the theme Community: Living Well Together. \nThe exhibition showcases artwork inspired by the stories of people who live together in community: those whose families have lived in Norfolk for generations and those whose journeys have brought them here from other parts of the world. By listening to and learning from different experiences\, pupils reflected on how communities are shaped over time and how many different stories contribute to the life of a place. \nChildren worked with their school communities to explore journeys made to Norfolk\, the changes experienced along the way\, and the insights gained. Through storytelling\, discussion and creative response\, they developed a deeper understanding of belonging\, migration and community. Pupils also had opportunities to hear directly from members of their local communities and from international students studying in Norfolk\, helping them to see how both long-standing roots and new journeys are part of the shared story of modern Norfolk. \nThe artwork is accompanied by immersive soundscapes produced with Big Cone Productions\, available via Spotify and Apple Podcasts. SUMMARY:The Norwich City of Stories Summer Trail
DESCRIPTION:This summer\, Norwich will transform into a free trail celebrating books\, creativity and the power of imagination. \nLaunching on 18 July and running until 31 August\, the Norwich City of Stories Summer Trail will encourage families\, visitors and residents to uncover clues hidden across the city centre. \nThe trail has been organised by VisitNorwich\, part of Norwich Business Improvement District (BID)\, and Norwich Cathedral is delighted to be the headline partner. \nThe Norwich City of Stories Summer Trail is free to take part in and can be enjoyed at participants’ own pace throughout the school holidays. \nVisitors will be able to pick up a free trail map and visit locations across the city in search of storybooks displayed in shop windows and venues. Each stop will reveal a letter clue\, with visitors challenged to crack the hidden message to be in with the chance of winning a range of prizes. \nCity of Stories Summer Trail maps\, event information and additional activities will be available via the VisitNorwich website. \nCloser to the trail start date\, physical copies of the trail map will be situated at participating venues including Norwich Cathedral and in John Lewis Norwich\, at the Norwich BID office in the Forum on Millennium Plain\, and will be handed out by Norwich City Hosts during the summer vacation. \nCompleted entries can be submitted online using a QR code found on the trail map\, by email\, or via dedicated boxes at Norwich Cathedral and in John Lewis Norwich. Entries for the competition must be received by 4 September 2026.

SUMMARY:Pilgrimage Walk: From Brokenness to New Life
DESCRIPTION:Join the Aylsham and District Team of Churches on Saturday 8 August 2026 for a pilgrimage walk along the “From Brokenness to New Life” trail from Sheringham to Trimingham. \nStarting with prayer and reflection at St Peter’s Church\, Sheringham at 8.30am\, pilgrims can choose to walk the full route or join for part of the journey. The route visits churches in Beeston Regis\, West Runton\, East Runton\, Cromer\, Overstrand\, Sidestrand and Trimingham\, with prayers offered at each stop for local communities and the Diocese of Norwich’s emerging strategy. \nThe walk is expected to finish in Trimingham at around 3pm. SUMMARY:LECTIO DIVINA - a way of being with scripture and other sacred texts
DESCRIPTION:We host a monthly group Lectio Divina session in the cathedral library\, on the SECOND FRIDAY of every month at 2.30pm. \nLectio Divina is a contemplative way of reading the Bible\, focusing on a short passage and allowing it to speak to us. The passage is read aloud\, and we may share a word or phrase that resonates with us\, but without discussion. It is a traditional Benedictine approach to the scriptures. \nOpen to all\, readings and full outline of the approach provided. SUMMARY:Poetry in Bloom - Flower Festival
DESCRIPTION:The parish church of St Peter & St Paul in Swaffham is hosting another of its acclaimed Flower Festivals over the August Bank Holiday weekend (Fri 28th-Mon 31st). This is a biennial event; and the theme on this occasion is “Poetry in Bloom”. All the arrangements are created by a band of skilful volunteers; and entry is free. Light refreshments will be available; and we hope visitors will also buy a programme for only £2. This is a major fund-raising enterprise for the church\, and w \ne’d love to welcome as many people as possible to see the vibrant displays and celebrate their floral glory and the accompanying poetry. The parish church in Swaffham is located just off the market square.
