DESCRIPTION:Yare Valley Riding for the Disabled are hosting one of the open garden afternoons. A rare opportunity to visit the secret walled gardens in the heart of Norwich and raise funds for Yare Valley Riding for the Disabled Group. These beautiful gardens at the Bishop of Norwich’s House are only open to the public a few times each year. \nEnjoy live music from Norwich Community Choir between 2 pm and 3 pm\, delicious cakes\, teas and coffees\, tombola\, and children’s games and activities\, along with plant sales and an opportunity to find out more about the work of the Yare Valley Riding for the Disabled Association. \nGardens open at 1 pm and close at 4.30 pm. SUMMARY:Final project quilt exhibition at Little Massingham Church
DESCRIPTION:This is the last chance to see the magnificent completed patchwork quilted “hugs” at St Andrew’s Church\, Little Massingham on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July. These quilts have been made by people living throughout the whole of the U.K. After the exhibition they will be handed over to the Norfolk County Council where the young adult care leavers will be able to select a quilt of their choice. \nThis has been a year long project to raise funds for Little Massingham Church roof. SUMMARY:Flower Festival with Music
DESCRIPTION:We will be celebrating our Patronal festival on the weekend 19th – 21st July. There will lots going on over the weekend to enjoy. It is free admission\, with donations welcome on the day. Throughout the weekend there will be a flower festival held in St. Margaret’s Church with many beautiful floral arrangements on display; nautical themed. This will be accompanied by an eclectic mix of talented musicians playing across the weekend. Stephen Mynott will be playing guitar & Tony Jullings on flute both preforming on Friday 19th. On Saturday 20th\, Jonathan Williams will be playing organ\, followed with a concert by The Lowestoft Longshoremen at 2.30pm who will be singing sea-shanty songs. Xenia Horne will then be playing harp on Sunday 21st July. There will also be displays to look at and a table-top sale on Saturday 20th at 11am in the centre. The weekend will be topped off by the Bishop of Thetford leading the 10am Sunday morning service and by a beautiful service of Choral Evensong on the Sunday evening at 6pm. We look forward to welcoming you there.

SUMMARY:Through the Garden Gate Textile Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Spend a relaxing day in St Peter and St Paul’s Church at East Harling. Learn to make a textile picture\, using simple techniques and explore your own unique creativity. You will be given complete instruction by Sharon as well as written instructions and ideas sheets. All materials are provided. \nMaking textile pictures is a delight and hopefully you will come away from this workshop\, full of inspiration. \nNo previous experience is necessary other than maybe the most basic sewing skills. \nSharon Blackman is a textile artist from Chelmsford and has been making textile pictures from recycled fabrics for about 25 years. She has a quirky\, folk art style and particularly loves to make pictures inspired by gardens\, cottages\, the seaside and the beautiful\, simple everyday pleasures of life. She sells her original pictures and cards all over the world and has a large online following. She loves to inspire others to make textile pictures and to receive the same joy and peace that this technique has given to her. \nHot and cold drinks will be provided throughout the day. You will need to bring your own packed lunch or take a walk and buy something at our local shops.

SUMMARY:St Benet' Abbey Annual Service
DESCRIPTION:The site of St Benet’s Abbey has been a place of prayer\, pilgrimage\, and spiritual encounter for over a thousand years. The Benedictine monastery founded in the eleventh century was never formally dissolved at the Reformation\, and the Bishop of Norwich remains its titular Abbot. Each year since 1939\, an outdoor service has been held on the site\, to give thanks to God. The Bishop will arrive by Wherry\, the service will be conducted in the ruins of the Abbey and we hope to have a good attendance from locals\, holiday makers on the Broads and from further afield.  It will be an open-air ecumenical service and we look forward to welcoming and worshipping with as many as wish to attend at this ancient site.

SUMMARY:Charlie Haylock takes 'An Eccentric look at East Anglia'
DESCRIPTION:One of East Anglia’s leading entertainers\, and author of several books\, gives witty and unique insight into rural East Anglia – its dialect\, humour and general ‘goings on’. \nCharlie is not only a hugely entertaining speaker\, but also a mine of information about the history of the English language\, and how so many regional dialects developed in this small group of islands.  Interspersed amid the laughter are countless nuggets of information gleaned over years of study. DESCRIPTION:All very welcome to come along to the lovely gardens of “The Bird in Hand”\, 80 Mill Road\, Blofield Heath NR13 4QS\, situated at the east end of Mill Road in Blofield Heath. As well as enjoying the peaceful gardens and beautiful herbaceous borders\, there will be “afternoon tea” refreshments on sale\, as well as beers\, wines and Pimms. There are always lots of plants to buy as well as homemade cakes\, breads and fresh garden produce. \nThe gardens are open on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th August between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. each day. The entrance fee is £3.50 with all proceeds going to Heathlands Community Centre and All Saints Church Hemblington repair fund. \nSorry no dogs allowed inside\, except Guide Dogs.
