SUMMARY:Community Changemakers event
DESCRIPTION:This May\, the church in Haveringland will host a free day-conference for people interested in the plight of rural churches. The conference is the final part of a transformational project in the church which has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund along with other funders. The project has delivered extensive repairs and improvements to the physical building along with an impressive programme of events and community engagement initiatives. \nChurches in rural areas face significant challenges and many are finding it hard to think positively about the future. This day conference on Friday 15th May at Haveringland Parish Church will explore the realities of rural parish life\, and provide some inspiration to take away with you. \nThere will be keynote talks from Bishop Jane Steen (Bishop of Lynn) and Nigel Walter (Archangel Architects – Cambridge). We’ll have panel discussions on church buildings and the environment\, community health and wellbeing\, transforming governance structures & exploring different models of church. \nCawston Vicar\, Rev’d Andrew Whitehead\, said “We’re delighted to be able to offer this day conference as part of the NLHF funded project in Haveringland. We’d like to share the experiences we’ve had and the lessons we’ve learnt\, as well as offering a place for people to come together and ask their own questions. Being involved in a rural church can make you feel vulnerable and isolated\, and we hope we can provide an opportunity for mutual support and encouragement.” \nThe venue for the conference is the amazing Haveringland Parish Church & Community Hub. The conference marks the end of a momentous £500\,000 project which has seen the remote and dilapidated church building transformed into a well-appointed facility which serves its community in fresh ways. You can find the church with the postcode: NR10 4FW or what3words: ///dent.palettes.probe \nThe conference is offered to you free of charge thanks to the generous support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund\, who have been major funders of the work we have done. All you have to do is register your place. We’ll even provide you with a free lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Places are limited\, so click here to register https://www.communitychangemakers.org.uk/ \nBook here: Home

SUMMARY:Talk by Lyn Stilgoe on All Saints Church\, Litcham and Round Tower Churches
DESCRIPTION:Come and join the Friends of All Saints for a fascinating talk by Lyn Stilgoe on All Saints Church\, Litcham and Round Tower Churches (the two Lexham Churches being our nearest). \nLyn will start the talk with a walk round the outside of All Saints where she will point out features of interest before going inside and talking about what can be seen and why it is there. There will be lots of time for looking around the Church and asking questions. \nLyn is well known as a tour guide for the Round Tower Churches Society where she has been both the Secretary and a guide since the early 90s. Lyn has also been involved for over 30 years as a guide with the Tours of Norfolk Churches which was started in Mileham in 1970 by Richard Butler-Stoney and Hugh Holbeach. Since 2004 Lyn has written new leaflets for every church visited – some 16 new ones each year

SUMMARY:God\, Time and Stephen Hawking – a talk by The Revd Professor David Wilkinson\, FRAS
DESCRIPTION:In the week that Norwich Cathedral hosts the spectacular sound and light experience Time by Luxmuralis\, join us for a free thought-provoking talk that bridges cutting-edge cosmology with deep philosophical faith. \nIn his landmark book A Brief History of Time\, Professor Stephen Hawking famously suggested that discovering a complete theory of physics would allow us to “know the mind of God”. Yet\, his later work challenged traditional religious frameworks\, arguing that because time began with the Big Bang\, a Creator simply had no time to exist beforehand. \nIn this accessible one-hour talk\, The Revd Professor David Wilkinson\, FRAS breaks down these mind-bending concepts. Armed with the rare perspective of dual doctorates in theoretical astrophysics and systematic theology\, Prof Wilkinson moves beyond the tired “science versus religion” conflict. He will explore how Hawking’s insights into quantum gravity and the multiverse actually open up a much richer\, deeper conversation about the nature of space\, time\, and existence. \nThis talk requires no prior background in science or philosophy. It offers an accessible\, thought-provoking opportunity for the curious\, the scientific\, and the spiritual alike. \nThis talk is free to attend but tickets should be booked in advance.
