DESCRIPTION:Sight Loss Friendly Church (SLFC) is our exciting initiative to help churches to become accessible for people with sight loss. SLFC are providing some free sessions on Zoom for churches to find out more about SLFC. \nSLFC Q&A is a 1 hour session where you can meet SLFC’s expert panel from Torch Trust and ask your questions around welcoming and including blind and partially sighted people in all aspects of your church. No question is too embarrassing\, we’re all at different stages in our sight loss friendly journey. \nAs well as asking our experts\, churches with experience of inclusion are also welcome to chip in with hints and tips on how they have overcome any challenges.

SUMMARY:NCCL: Monuments in Norwich churches
DESCRIPTION:As is well known\, Norwich is blessed with many medieval churches\, a fine Norman cathedral\, and several other distinctive places of worship such as the Octagon Chapel in Colegate. On this course Professor Christopher Joby discusses some of the many monuments and gravestones housed in these churches and the funerary inscriptions incised on them. A striking feature of these monuments and inscriptions is their diversity. Some depict the deceased recumbent\, whilst others show them kneeling and in one case at least standing. The material from which they are made also varies. Professor Joby pays special attention to funerary inscriptions and explores questions such as who wrote them\, why they wrote them\, and why they are written in different languages. Some are in English or Latin\, whilst others are in both. Monuments to Dutch Strangers are in Dutch\, whilst the Suckling monument in St. Andrew’s has inscriptions in five languages. DESCRIPTION:Mothering Sunday gifts\, flowers and crafts will be on sale in addition to a wide and varied collection of pre-loved books. There will also be the opportunity to see the church’s extensive heritage displays. St. Andrew’s Pantry will be open\, a congenial and warm place to meet up with friends and enjoy home made cakes and scones. All proceeds will go to Church Funds.

SUMMARY:Growing Good Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Attendees are invited from churches of any denomination across the region who are interested in finding out more about how their church and community might benefit from the research and resources. Contributors will include the Bishop of Lynn\, the Bishop of Thetford\, members of the Church Urban Fund (CUF) team who have developed Growing Good\, and leaders of local churches. \nThe Growing Good workshop will be held on 12 February at St Luke’s Church\, starting at 1pm with a free buffet lunch and finishing at 4pm. Booking is essential. \nGrowing Good is a community of people and churches who are committed to growing fruitful churches and flourishing communities. To support the Growing Good movement\, CUF has developed the Growing Good Toolkit. This includes a six-module course to help churches connect the dots between social action\, discipleship\, and growth. The toolkit combines biblical reflection and practical insight to equip churches to grow in faithfulness and fruitfulness. \nThe toolkit is based on three years of research by Theos and CUF. The research looked at over 60 churches all across England\, to better understand how social action\, discipleship\, and growth fit together on the ground. In developing the toolkit content\, CUF involved church leaders\, ministry training coordinators\, and community workers. \nBooking is essential. \n
