SUMMARY:Film Screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing
DESCRIPTION:The 50-minute film will be followed by structured\, small group discussions on what this means for our community. After that\, from 9:00-9:30pm\, there will be time for more informal discussions\, and for engaging with displays and Norwich City Council’s public consultation on its draft climate action plan. The bars in The Halls will be open for drinks and snacks. This is a free\, ticketed event\, and tickets can be booked here.  \nThe film features footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing which brought together leading UK experts in climate science\, food security\, health\, economics\, national security and nature. It presents a clear\, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain – and what the evidence says about risks and responses.  \nThe initiative is explicitly non-partisan\, and has support from a wide range of organisations including National Trust\, Church of England\, Exeter University\, the Royal Meteorological Society\, WWF\, National Education Union\, and many more. Its purpose is to support informed democratic discussion and ensure that Parliament and the public share a common understanding of the scale and urgency of the challenge. \nWe would be very pleased if you could attend. This is an opportunity for community building\, to create local resilience in the face of the climate and nature challenges already unfolding.

SUMMARY:Eco Chaplaincy training - is God calling you?
DESCRIPTION:We’re building a network of chaplains across the diocese. If you’re already a parish Eco Rep\, this will really simply mean sharing your experience with churches in a wider area. Could God be calling you? \nThe primary purpose of this voluntary role is to encourage and support churches to respond to the climate an ecological crisis\, by advocating for environmental action\, resourcing others\, and helping churches on their Eco Church and net zero journey. The role is supported by the Diocesan Environment Officer and Net Zero Carbon Adviser. \nThe next training course takes place over Wednesdays 17 & 24 June\, from 1:30 – 3:30pm in central Norwich. The training sessions will cover the theological context of our climate and biodiversity crises\, our missional response to them\, and how to signpost parishes to practical support on working towards net zero\, improving biodiversity and progressing through the Eco Church survey. \nFor a more details of what the role commitment and responsibilities are\, please see the role description HERE and/or contact Barbara.bryant@dioceseofnorwich.org 07876 634867 for a chat. \nYou’ll need to be able to commit to attending both dates\, but do not need to commit to the role until after training is completed. You will need to have the agreement of your parish priest/incumbent. Please contact Barbara if you would like to book onto the course.

SUMMARY:Give to Go Green Campaign Launch
DESCRIPTION:Give to Go Green is a match funding opportunity for Parishes with £3.1 million available in grants. This grant fund is for small to medium sized decarbonising projects\, costing up to £20k.  Typical projects can include lighting upgrades\, secondary glazing\, infra -red heating and heated pew cushions\, for example. Give to Go Green supports local parish-level fundraising campaigns by providing up to £10k in match funding from the Net Zero Carbon Programme.  \nThis launch follows on from the success of the original pilot which ran across 2023-2025 with 9 dioceses. 172 Parishes took part in the pilot and 98.5% of those were 100% successful in hitting their local fundraising target. We also saw a sustained impact on regular giving to the Parishes that took part in the campaign\, with an average increase of 233%  in giving through online donations a year after taking part in the Give to Go Green pilot. The campaign provides a framework and tools to give Parishes the confidence\, resources and funds they need to look at their fundraising and giving in a new way- as well energising their Net Zero ambitions and I would be grateful if you could publicise it widely across your diocese. \nGive to Go Green will be formally launching to Parishes at two online events being held on: \n\n2nd July 12pm. The Zoom invite link is here: https://churchofengland-org.zoom.us/j/85190870155?pwd=hLjT0BJlawTEw166EjIzaFcmQ1Ic13.1\n9th July at 7pm. The Zoom invite link is here: https://churchofengland-org.zoom.us/j/88671093998?pwd=wusKhFpSGNfo45BofxGA6hYb7pVBLh.1\n\nAn available recording will be saved here:  Give to Go Green webpages \nPlease see the parish brochure here for more information: Give to Go Green booklet

SUMMARY:The People’s National Emergency Briefing film
DESCRIPTION:Please come to see this very important film\, which highlights scientists’ concerns regarding climate change – how it affects us all\, and what we can do now to help mitigate future effects.  It’s part of a wider programme of screenings taking place across the UK\, designed to help communities understand the climate and nature crisis and discuss what it means locally. The event will include a short\, facilitated discussion afterwards. \n\n\n\nThe screening has been organised by the Friends and the eco-team of Hemblington church but it is supported by many national organisations and is apolitical. Whether you understand and believe that climate change is happening – or not – this is an important discussion to hold.  You are all invited to see the film and take part in the discussion\, to which our local MP\, county and parish councillors have also been invited.  Free event – and one of the most important issues of our lifetime. \nPlease book your free seat here.
