SUMMARY:Eco Church Festival Evensong
DESCRIPTION:Rogation Sunday · 10 May 2026 · Norwich Cathedral\nYou’re invited to join us at Norwich Cathedral for a Rogation Sunday Festival Evensong giving thanks for God’s creation and celebrating the progress of parishes across the diocese in the Eco Church survey programme.\nRooted in the ancient tradition of walking the land in prayer\, we gather to bless the earth\, honour faithful action\, and renew our shared commitment to creation care. With a variety of stalls from environmental organisations\, a chance to picnic in the Cathedral Garth\, and a joyful procession out of Evensong around the Close\, we celebrate being part of a growing movement of churches seeking to live out the gospel through practical love for God’s world.\nWhy not bring a banner or flag to process with\, made from upcycled and re-used materials as a celebratory symbol of your parish’s creation care journey? Come and share your stories\, triumphs and challenges with one another.\nSunday 10 May\, from 1:30pm (Evensong at 3:30pm)\nThe eco stalls and picnic opportunity (bring your own or purchase from Bread Source in the Refectory) start from 1:30pm in the cloister and garth\, with Evensong starting at 3:30pm\, ending with the procession around the grounds. SUMMARY:Film Screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing
DESCRIPTION:The 50-minute film will be followed by structured\, small group discussions on what this means for our community. After that\, from 9:00-9:30pm\, there will be time for more informal discussions\, and for engaging with displays and Norwich City Council’s public consultation on its draft climate action plan. The bars in The Halls will be open for drinks and snacks. This is a free\, ticketed event\, and tickets can be booked here.  \nThe film features footage from last November’s National Emergency Briefing which brought together leading UK experts in climate science\, food security\, health\, economics\, national security and nature. It presents a clear\, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting everyday life in Britain – and what the evidence says about risks and responses.  \nThe initiative is explicitly non-partisan\, and has support from a wide range of organisations including National Trust\, Church of England\, Exeter University\, the Royal Meteorological Society\, WWF\, National Education Union\, and many more. Its purpose is to support informed democratic discussion and ensure that Parliament and the public share a common understanding of the scale and urgency of the challenge. \nWe would be very pleased if you could attend. This is an opportunity for community building\, to create local resilience in the face of the climate and nature challenges already unfolding.

SUMMARY:The People’s National Emergency Briefing film
DESCRIPTION:Please come to see this very important film\, which highlights scientists’ concerns regarding climate change – how it affects us all\, and what we can do now to help mitigate future effects.  It’s part of a wider programme of screenings taking place across the UK\, designed to help communities understand the climate and nature crisis and discuss what it means locally. The event will include a short\, facilitated discussion afterwards. \n\n\n\nThe screening has been organised by the Friends and the eco-team of Hemblington church but it is supported by many national organisations and is apolitical. Whether you understand and believe that climate change is happening – or not – this is an important discussion to hold.  You are all invited to see the film and take part in the discussion\, to which our local MP\, county and parish councillors have also been invited.  Free event – and one of the most important issues of our lifetime. \nPlease book your free seat here.
