SUMMARY:Youthscape Essentials Central
DESCRIPTION:The Youthscape Essentials course is our training for all those involved or interested in being involved\, in youth ministry in your local church\, school or community. This is more than just a training course\, it’s formational. Youth work isn’t just a technical skill you pick up and ‘do’ nor is it merely a mass of information for you to download. Fundamentally\, we want to help form you as a Christian\, a disciple of Jesus\, and for a love of working with young people to flow out of that. It’s communal too. You’re taking this course as a collective\, a team\, where you can share with and learn from each other\, growing in a community mindset– because God’s vision for the Church is not merely assorted individuals but one harmonious\, diverse family.\n\nThe course will be delivered in a hybrid style\, mixing local in person sessions with online sessions for the whole group\, allowing to explore your ministry as a local team whilst also being inspired by the stories from across the diocese!\n\nSo\, come and join this amazing journey\, invest in your ministry and your Christian discipleship\, and simply select the local hub that will work best for you!\n\nFor more information about the Youthscape Essentials course then visit www.youthscape.co.uk/yse/home

SUMMARY:Homegrown - Research Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Back in September the Homegrown project launched their findings from a year of research listening to the voices of young people\, schools and key community partners in Kings Lynn and West Norfolk. At the launch event we heard some of the key findings and recommendations from the report and kickstarted the ecumenical conversations to help form our response. This month we’re hoping to continue those conversations and invite more to hear the findings at our Homegrown Webinar. \nHOMEGROWN is a partnership between the local church and its surrounding community\, including representatives from the churches of the Lynn and Heacham and Rising Deaneries\, Viva (international faith-based community development organisation)\, the Parish Support Team and West Norfolk County Council. \nThe heart of HOMEGROWN is to be a gift. A gift to the local church\, regardless of size or denomination\, through mapping a clear picture of the landscape facing children and young people\, and any projects that are already seeking to support them\, and a gift to the wider community by encouraging and equipping the church on their doorstep to better respond to their needs. \nDuring 2024/25 we have listened to hundreds of voices – from children in schools\, from churches\, and from community partners. We have heard both joy and struggle: safe spaces that make a difference\, but also stress\, isolation\, poverty\, and challenges that no single group can tackle alone. The report is a compilation of all the voices we have heard over the last year and a reflection of their thoughts and opinions of the church\, the communities and their lives. \nRead the report here. \nThe aim of this report is not to demonstrate how many children are in church. It is about recognising that local churches\, i.e. groups of like-minded local Christian people\, are already part of the community fabric – and asking how multiple groups of churches might work together more confidently\, across our area\, to better\nknow and serve children and young people where they are. \nOur findings highlight the biggest issues facing young people\, where schools and churches see the same concerns\, and where the gaps lie. The message is clear: collaboration is essential. Churches have people\, long-lasting presence\, and trust – but long-term change will only come if we share resources\, avoid duplication\, and act together. \nWe offer this report as both a snapshot and a call to action. Its purpose is to: \n\nInspire churches to make a difference by working together\,\ndemonstrating a greater expression and public witness of\nChristian faith.\nRaise awareness of\, and encourage the church to advocate for\,\nsocial pressures facing children\, young people and families.\nPrompt collaboration for a stronger response around key issues\nlike family poverty\, mental health\, and safe youth spaces.\nFacilitate a stronger connection between the church\, schools\nand the public sector to contribute to borough-wide change\nfor children\, youth and families.\n\nJoin the webinar via: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/nVSfbkhBRj-O-vTyOTH1cA#/registration \nFor more information about the project\, upcoming events or to find out how else you can get involved\, contact Vicki Price: vicki.price@dioceseofnorwich.org

SUMMARY:Homegrown Share and Prayer Event
DESCRIPTION: \nDate: Friday\, January 24\, 2024\nTime: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM\nLocation: St John’s the Evangelist\, Blackfriars Rd\, King’s Lynn PE30 1NT\nRefreshments provided\n\n\nThe Homegrown project aims to paint a clear picture of the situation facing children and young people in West Norfolk\, including who is actively working and able to collaborate to grow this type of work. Join the conversation as we consider what might enable us to work more collaboratively across our borough for children and families.\nAt the end of the 2025 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity\, Churches Together in King’s Lynn\, the Diocese of Norwich and Imagine Norfolk Together invite local Christians and community leaders to an exciting three-part sharing\, networking and prayer event. This is an opportunity for everyone passionate about seeing children and young people flourish\, to come together to hear about and discuss the current landscape facing young people in our area\, learn about how local churches are currently engaging\, and explore ways to collaborate for greater impact.\nWhy Attend?\nAcross West Norfolk\, there are many local Christians in Churches across the borough\, dedicated to supporting children\, young people and their families in their communities who face daily challenges. However\, these good efforts often occur in isolation\, which can lead to unintentional duplication of resources and burnout. This event aims to begin bridge that gap. By understanding what churches are already doing and identifying key areas for collaboration\, we can maximize our collective impact.\nEvent Outline:\n\n\n4 – 4:45pm- Introductions and Sharing:\nHear responses from local church and community leaders to our recent survey. Learn about current initiatives focused on children and youth\, and the challenges identified by churches and organizations. This sharing will be enriched by sharing key themes emerging from the desk research\, which has compiled data from a number local organisations\, highlighting the pressing issues faced by families in Kings Lynn and West Norfolk.\n\n\n4:45 – 5:15pm – Networking:\nEngage in meaningful conversations with fellow attendees\, including church leaders\, local organizations\, and schools. This networking session is designed to foster connections that can lead to collaborative efforts in addressing community needs.\n\n\n5:20 – 6:00pm – Time of Prayer:\nThose who wish to stay are invited to join Bishop Jane Steen in prayer\, where we will thank God for the good work already being done and seek His guidance for future collaborations. We believe prayer is a powerful force for unity and transformation\, and essential to our work as the Church moving forward together.\n\n\nKey Aims of the Homegrown Project:\n\nAddress Inequality: Create a stronger response to the challenges faced by children and families in our community.\nBetter Stewardship: Enhance the effective use of church resources to support children\, young people\, and families.\nStronger Connections: Build relationships between the Church and local organisations and authorities to influence borough-wide change.\nVisible Faith Expression: Promote a confident and visible Christian presence in West Norfolk.\n\nThis gathering is crucial not only for the churches but also for non-church organizations\, schools\, and community members who share a commitment to the well-being of our young people. Together\, we can map the current landscape of outreach and identify collaborative paths forward.\nGet Involved:\nPlease complete our survey to provide insights into your church’s outreach efforts here Homegrown Survey.\nOr complete it on behalf of your organisation https://bit.ly/homegrown-orgs or school https://bit.ly/homegrown-schools\nFor questions or more information\, contact Vicki Price at vicki.price@dioceseofnorwich.org.\nLet’s come together in unity\, compassion\, and purpose. \nWe look forward to seeing you there!

SUMMARY:St Mark's\, Oulton Broad 'Green Day'
DESCRIPTION:We are planning to have fun\, enjoy some cake and a drink\, and hopefully learn a thing or two. \nSt Marks\, Oulton Broad (silver award Eco Church) – are holding a Green Day on Saturday 1 June (10 – 2). Local people and groups from further afield will be highlighting their Green initiatives; from running a hedgehog haven\, nurturing honey bees to raising the issue of coastal flooding. Our local MP\, prospective candidates\, councillors and environmental groups (such as the Christian Climate UK and Use Your Voice Lowestoft) will be in attendance. \nSome issues have very serious implications – but nature’s ability to recover is amazing too. We need to have hope. Indeed there is much joy in recognising and encouraging a healthier environment for us all (nature and mankind alike). Join us to share the journey.
