SUMMARY:Homegrown - Research Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Back in September the Homegrown project launched their findings from a year of research listening to the voices of young people\, schools and key community partners in Kings Lynn and West Norfolk. At the launch event we heard some of the key findings and recommendations from the report and kickstarted the ecumenical conversations to help form our response. This month we’re hoping to continue those conversations and invite more to hear the findings at our Homegrown Webinar. \nHOMEGROWN is a partnership between the local church and its surrounding community\, including representatives from the churches of the Lynn and Heacham and Rising Deaneries\, Viva (international faith-based community development organisation)\, the Parish Support Team and West Norfolk County Council. \nThe heart of HOMEGROWN is to be a gift. A gift to the local church\, regardless of size or denomination\, through mapping a clear picture of the landscape facing children and young people\, and any projects that are already seeking to support them\, and a gift to the wider community by encouraging and equipping the church on their doorstep to better respond to their needs. \nDuring 2024/25 we have listened to hundreds of voices – from children in schools\, from churches\, and from community partners. We have heard both joy and struggle: safe spaces that make a difference\, but also stress\, isolation\, poverty\, and challenges that no single group can tackle alone. The report is a compilation of all the voices we have heard over the last year and a reflection of their thoughts and opinions of the church\, the communities and their lives. \nRead the report here. \nThe aim of this report is not to demonstrate how many children are in church. It is about recognising that local churches\, i.e. groups of like-minded local Christian people\, are already part of the community fabric – and asking how multiple groups of churches might work together more confidently\, across our area\, to better\nknow and serve children and young people where they are. \nOur findings highlight the biggest issues facing young people\, where schools and churches see the same concerns\, and where the gaps lie. The message is clear: collaboration is essential. Churches have people\, long-lasting presence\, and trust – but long-term change will only come if we share resources\, avoid duplication\, and act together. \nWe offer this report as both a snapshot and a call to action. Its purpose is to: \n\nInspire churches to make a difference by working together\,\ndemonstrating a greater expression and public witness of\nChristian faith.\nRaise awareness of\, and encourage the church to advocate for\,\nsocial pressures facing children\, young people and families.\nPrompt collaboration for a stronger response around key issues\nlike family poverty\, mental health\, and safe youth spaces.\nFacilitate a stronger connection between the church\, schools\nand the public sector to contribute to borough-wide change\nfor children\, youth and families.\n\nJoin the webinar via: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/nVSfbkhBRj-O-vTyOTH1cA#/registration \nFor more information about the project\, upcoming events or to find out how else you can get involved\, contact Vicki Price: vicki.price@dioceseofnorwich.org

This will be something that the instructors will have to chat to the parent/legal guardian about on the day before the activity starts. \nMembers of your party who are younger than 4 years or would prefer not to take part are still welcome\, but please register them as ‘non-participants’ and some alternative activities will be available. \nRefreshments \nRefreshments and snacks will be provided on arrival and during the day\, but please bring your own packed lunch. \nA catered BBQ will be provided at the end of the day 5pm-6pm. Please let us know when booking if you have any dietary requirements and whether you will be staying for the BBQ. \nHow much does it cost? \nThere is no charge for the day\, we want to treat you! \nBut regarding cancellation…. \nWe offer this event for free as an opportunity for those in ministry to enjoy a day with their family\, we see it as a great investment but it’s disappointing when people cancel at short notice or don’t turn up on the day. The impact of this is that it takes valuable places away from others who may otherwise have booked and costs us financially and in administrative time. If you book and find you can no longer attend before the booking deadline\, please contact us / cancel your booking so the tickets can be released. Cancellations after the booking deadline and no-shows on the day will be charged at £10 per ticket. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to be good stewards. \nBooking \nAdvance booking is required. The booking deadline is 11.59pm on Sunday 26th April. \nIt is essential you book by the deadline as we have to confirm arrangments with the Horstead Centre. Unfortunately we are unable to take bookings after this date. \nTicket types: \n‘Participant’ ticket – for anyone (over the age of 4 years) who would like to participate in outdoor activities led by the Horstead Centre instructors (subject to the instructors approval). \n‘Non-Participant’ ticket – for anyone under 4 years of age or anyone over 4 years of age in your party who does not wish to participate in any of the instructor led activities.

SUMMARY:Go with the FLOW
DESCRIPTION:Visitors are invited to enjoy a unique day of worship\, community and family-friendly activities during the FLOW event at How Hill on Sunday 19th July. Organised by the Waterside Benefice\, which includes the churches of Catfield\, Ludham and Potter Heigham\, the event will take place on the main field and in the gardens of How Hill House. FLOW has been created to bring Christian ministry to the Broads\, making church accessible\, engaging and enjoyable for all. \nThe event builds on the success of last year\, when a group from the Waterside Benefice along with Bishop Ian\, the Bishop of Thetford\, travelled around the Broads aboard the historic Wherry Albion\, stopping at various staithes\, holding services and running activities. \nThe day will begin with a Service of Holy Communion at 8.30am\, led by Bishop Ian\, who is again lending his support to the initiative. He will then also lead a Songs of Praise service at 11.00am. There will be a variety of activities to take part in throughout the day\, including crafts\, opportunities for conversation\, music and a treasure hunt. Refreshments will be available\, with tea\, coffee\, homemade cakes and freshly cooked bacon rolls on offer. Bring a chair and your own lunch time picnic to enjoy in the company of others. \nOrganisers hope FLOW will appeal not only to regular churchgoers but also to those who may be curious about faith or simply looking for an enjoyable day out. Whether people come for the crafts\, the conversation\, the music\, or the chance to connect with faith\, there will be something for everyone.
