We sense\nthat Julian is a gift for our times\, and invite you to join us as we explore excerpts from Revelations of Divine Love. \nThis two-day retreat will offer a spacious mix of teaching\, stillness and contemplative prayer\, with space and time to enjoy and pray in the\nJulian cell\, church and garden. Gail and Ian will be offering a simple and deepening practice of contemplative prayer through the retreat. They will\nbe sharing from their life experiences\, and Ian will be sharing from his poems and photographs.

Hear for yourself the legacy of five decades of music ranging from long lost mediaeval gems\, modern arrangements of traditional tunes and new compositions – all giving the band an individual and mesmerising identity. \nThey were last with us in 2017 and we’d booked them to return in 2020 BUT ……. !!! \nDuring that long COVID-enforced break\, they produced a new album\, ‘Wake’\, and we’re delighted to welcome them back to Bergh Apton this autumn. \nBetween them\, Ken & Joan Saul\, Andrew Smith\, David Felmingham and Geoff Hurrell offer virtuosity on too many instruments – traditional and modern – to mention them all.\nYou can hear examples of their sound on their website: https://stone-angel.co.uk and maybe gain a flavour of the mists and mysteries of the Norfolk Broads and the lonely marshlands of East Anglia. \nWe recommend advance booking\, which helps us to cater for refreshments but also avoids disappointment if we’re reaching our capacity of 120.

SUMMARY:A concert by the marvellous Norwegian choir\, Lardal Kantori
DESCRIPTION:A musical & visually colourful treat – this superb choir performs in national dress in the fantastic acoustics and friendly atmosphere of our lovely rural parish church. \nUnder the expert leadership of Kjell Håkerstad\, Lardal Kantori performs regularly around southern Norway. Their repertoire is huge\, ranging from Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus (which might be included in this year’s programme) to well-loved carols and ballads. Their style is relaxed and friendly but very polished. \nFor a number of years they joined us in Bergh Apton Church to herald the Advent season with songs and carols in Norwegian and English – then COVID intervened. We’re absolutely thrilled that we’ve now restored continueity and are able to welcome them back this year. \nThey’re only performing twice in England before returning to Norway\, so do join us for a very special experience. Parking is available in the grassed field adjacent to the church \nAlthough we ask for advance booking so we can anticipate numbers for seating and refreshments\, we do retain a number of tickets for on-the-door sales. Once again\, the five churches of the Glaven Valley Benefice – Blakeney\, Cley\, Glandford\, Letheringsett and Wiveton – each with their own unique architecture and atmosphere\, will play host to an exciting and varied programme of music from 9th- 13th July. Featuring musicians of international acclaim alongside established professionals from across Norfolk\, and talented young musicians from Norwich School\, the Festival provides five days of high-level concerts with something for everyone.
