NCCL: John’s prologue and his gospel

Sat 28 Oct at 10.00 am - 12.30 pm

Norwich Cathedral, Norwich, NR1 4DH

An attempt to make sense of the Prologue

“In the beginning was the Word…” the mysterious start of the Prologue to John raises more questions than it answers. An attempt is made to make sense of the Prologue, which is seen to open out as a flower into an explanation of a tightly structured gospel. With is division into the Signs, the Farewell Discourses and the Passion and Resurrection, John has been seen as a pool in which children can happily paddle and philosophers swim.

The session is led by Dr Geoffrey Foote, and is held in Norwich Cathedral Library.
