A lecture at OLSM South Creake that is part of the annual South Creake lecture series. Fr. Luke Penkett will speak on mystic Margery Kempe's personal spiritual journey in the broader context of her experiences.

Fr. Luke Penkett is a solitary monk living in Norwich, who is currently Curator of the Margery Kempe Centre in King’s Lynn, Honorary Secretary of the Margery Kempe Society, and Book Reviews Editor of Medieval Mystical Theology. He is also writing a book on Margery Kempe. Margery lived at the same time as Julian of Norwich, and her book about her life is believed to be the first autobiography in English. She had many visions and experiences over the course of her life — she lived in Kings Lynn but travelled the globe. Fr, Penkett will discuss the importance of Margery and her religious experiences in the broader context of religious experience in Europe at the time.
