St Andrew’s, Great Ryburgh, Great Ryburgh, Norfolk, NR21 0BE
A concert of fifteenth century music to mark 650 years since the birth of mystic and pilgrim, Margery Kempe, researched and performed by harpist, singer and pilgrim, Leah Stuttard.
Leah Stuttard who walked to Walsingham from London two years ago and who stayed at Great Ryburgh on the Walsingham Way has kindly offered a concert featuring the music surrounding the English fifteenth-century mystic and pilgrim, Margery Kempe who was born 650 years ago this year! A professional harpist and singer, Leah, will introduce us to Gregorian chants from Trondheim, Gdansk, Cyprus and Jerusalem, music from the Old Hall manuscript, medieval English carols in honour of saints, pilgrim songs and sacred music from places Margery Kempe visited in Germany, Spain and Italy.
Refreshments, possibly inspired by the fifteenth century, will be served after the concert.
There will be a retiring collection to be shared between Leah’s expenses and church funds.
