Hymn and Worship song playing for organists
Sat 29 Feb
St Mary’s Church, Diss, IP22 4QQ
A study morning looking at how to make hymns of different styles sound fantastic on the organ. Led by experienced and renowned organist and tutor Julian Haggett.
Following the success of the first series of three classes in Norfolk in autumn 2018 we are now running a second series. These classes will be of great value to those pianists who find themselves playing for church services on a regular or occasional basis, to self-taught organists, and to those with a little more experience who would like some fresh ideas. It is not necessary to book all three classes in order to attend.
In this second class at St Mary’s Church Diss, RCO Regional Consultant for Norfolk Julian Haggett coaches you in confident hymn playing, with valubale tips on registration an duse of the pedals, and shares ideas on how to play modern hymns and worship songs designed for the piano on the organ. He will also help you with console management, and guide you in simple improvisation and ideas for filling gaps in the service.
This class is limited to six players so book now to secure your place!
Please prepare one or more hymns to play, ideally those suitable for the seasons and Lent, Passiontide and Easter, and, if you wish, a modern hymn/worship song.
Cost: £30 RCO Member; £15 RCO Student Member; £19 Full time students; £38 Non-member
