Evangelists. The stereotypes abound. At best, wonderful platform proclaimers of the faith. At worst, loud, brash, insensitive, extravert (and mostly men). But what if the stereotypes fool us into misunderstanding this gift from God to his Church?
Bishop Gavin Reid once said that the majority of evangelists would never stand on a platform or speak to a crowd. What if he is right, that the majority of evangelists are ordinary people in our churches gifted in sharing the faith? How would we spot them? How could we encourage and resource them in their ministry? And how could we help them to encourage and resource the ministry of evangelism throughout the whole people of God?
