Chrism Eucharist and Bishop Alan’s last service

Mon 3 Apr at 11.00 am - 1.00 pm

Norwich Cathedral, Norwich, NR1 4DH

Everyone is invited to join the Chrism Eucharist at 11am on Monday 3 April in the Cathedral during which we will give thanks to God for Bishop’s Alan ministry in our Diocese as he retires.

The Chrism Eucharist will mark the conclusion of Bishop Alan’s nigh-on 14 years of service to our Diocese as Bishop of Thetford. Both he and Pippa will be much missed as they go into retirement in Worcester, with our love and thanks for their significant contribution to Diocesan life.

Bishop Graham will preside and Bishop Alan will preach, commitments to ministry will be renewed, and the holy oils blessed.

Lay people, including family members, are most welcome to attend. The liturgy includes an opportunity for lay people to commit themselves afresh to support the ministry of deacons, priests, bishops, and licensed lay ministers, as well as re-offering themselves in God’s service near the start of Holy Week.

Those who attend the eucharist can also collect the holy oils after the service, and they are available by arrangement with the Cathedral vergers throughout the year.

This service will be live-streamed via the Cathedral’s YouTube channel.

If you would like to contribute to a leaving gift for Bishop Alan and Pippa, then please send cheques payable to ‘The Bishop’s Fund’ to Louise Cumberland at Bishop’s House, or make your gift via BACS sort code 20-62-53, account number 90136174 with the reference ‘WintonGift’, and inform Louise via email.
