Love on a plate in Yarmouth

Published on: 24 May 2022

The Pathway Café and Resource Centre in Great Yarmouth provides three-course lunches for those in need within the local neighbourhood three days a week.

It’s open to all but is particularly aimed at anyone facing social barriers or exclusion due to homelessness, addictions or general difficulties coping with life. This service continued throughout the pandemic, and during lockdowns takeaway meals were offered. A warm welcome is given by the many volunteers and food is often donated by local businesses. Most recently a foodbank has been opened in partnership with St Mary Magdalene Church in Gorleston. The Revd Canon Simon Ward, Rector of Great Yarmouth said, “Current times are hard for everyone, and it is important that help is there for people at a moment of crisis where putting food on the table just isn’t possible. Together, we’re responding to God’s call to serve our neighbours.”It’s open to all but is particularly aimed at anyone facing social barriers or exclusion due to homelessness, addictions or general difficulties coping with life.
