Caring for the flock
“Following Jesus in a secular setting can be hard,” says Laura.

“My school is not a church school but we do have Christian values. Jesus says ‘the good shepherd gives his life for his sheep’ – as a teacher you make huge sacrifices for your job: working long days at school; working evenings and weekends to plan and prepare; often working at the expense of family life or energy levels.
“I think Jesus wants us to give our all, to be dedicated to others as he is dedicated to us, and this is what I try to do for all our families. Jesus also says, ‘I know my sheep and my sheep know me’. Jesus took time to know people, so I try to get to know my class and colleagues, to show them kindness and care and to be there when they need me.”
