Who Let the Dads Out? @15
It was a brilliant first day at the show and the Diocese of Norwich marquee was buzzing with excitement from start to finish.
There was all sorts going on in the marquee from dancing dogs from the YMCA to hand massages at the Cathedral tent, bell-ringing dinosaurs to swimming with dolphins in a kayak through the Horstead virtual reality experience.
“It just seems to get better, doesn’t it,’ remarked one visitor to the marquee. ‘And this year you’ve got the good weather as well!’
The refreshments section was well-stocked with bottled water, tea and coffee for those wanting to take the weight off their feet and grab a few minutes in the shade.
The morning also saw the launching of Inspired Classrooms, a toolkit designed to allow children and teachers to explore churches as places of creative learning across the curriculum. In between the chorus of singing voices, The Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham James officially announced the project to be open.
Joining Inspired Classrooms at the Diocese of Norwich marquee were Bright Map, Christian Aid, the Chaplaincy team, Church Army, DNEAT, the Horstead centre, Imagine Norfolk Together, Mothers' Union, Postal Bible School, Norwich Cathedral, bell-ringers from St Peter Mancroft, Play Van, St Thomas Norwich Church, Scripture Union, TryPraying and YMCA.
As ever, there was also plenty of entertainment with school choirs and orchestras performing songs and pieces of music throughout the day.
Visitors to the marquee were also invited to build a lego church with Spire, watch a 360 space presentation with the Children, Youth and Families team in a giant igloo, get crafty at the Messy Church area, plant some mustard seeds in a take-away pot and explore a labyrinth in the prayer garden and churchyard, supported by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust.
