Pakefield: Missional parish on the beautiful east coast

Pakefield is a beautifully picturesque seaside location on the edge of Lowestoft. Overlooking the North Sea, we are blessed with amazing sunrises and a long beach to walk along. There is a population of about 7000 (in the winter, higher in the summer). It is a single Parish Benefice with a unique semi-detached thatched church.

We are a Christian family who worship God, care for one another and the local community and reach out to encourage others to know Jesus and his love.

We are looking for a curate who wants the opportunity to join us, here in Pakefield, to grow God’s kingdom, through worship, life events, pastoral care, special events and services, discipleship, teaching and outreach into our community.

We can offer lots of opportunities for you to learn about parish life, to equip you for your future ministry, as an Incumbent, wherever that might take you.

Plus, it is a fabulous place to live!

The role of the Curate is to learn and grow, spiritually and personally. This is your opportunity to take all that you can of the ministerial experience provided by the incumbent, the ministry team and the people of this benefice.

We are all keen for a new curate to bring all that they are and have learned to enrich the life and ministry of the seven churches.

Oulton Broad: Be part of the Church Planting and Revitalisation team in the Diocese of Norwich

The Parishes of Oulton and Oulton Broad are divided by an inlet from the North Sea which flows into Oulton Broad. The river creates a physical division but both Parishes border the Broad which is the southern gateway to the Broads National Park.

Within Oulton Broad Parish there are three primary schools (Reception, Years 1-6) and one special school. The closest high school (school years 7-11) is just outside the parish.

Over the next few years, the ongoing development of the new estate in Oulton will eventually see the addition of 800 homes in that area. This will change the local demographic and brings exciting prospects in terms of local mission and growth.

This new Curate’s post is an opportunity for someone with energy and vision to be part of something new, as well as being rooted in an established church family. The vision is to reach out to new people, seeing them come to faith and being discipled in a developing area of new housing.

The new Curate for Oulton Broad would also be part of the Church Planting and Revitalisation Project, joining the wider team who would be working with you and the local ministry team. The CPR team provides many resources: training, Sports Ministers, Youth Workers and Worship Leaders.
