Archdeacon Karen was collated and installed as Archdeacon of Norwich, and licensed as Warden of Readers, in Norwich Cathedral on 13 November 2016.
Karen was born in 1964 in Lincolnshire. Her father served in the RAF. She read Mathematics at the University of Oxford (Lady Margaret Hall) and qualified as a solicitor in 1989 working for a decade in litigation. She trained for ordination at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, serving a curacy in the Diocese of Winchester whilst studying for an MA in Applied Theology through the University of Kent at Canterbury.
She served as incumbent of two benefices in the Diocese of Guildford where she was also Diocesan Adviser for Women’s Ministry for five years. She was an elected member of General Synod, representing the clergy of the Diocese of Guildford, from 2013 until her move to Norwich in 2016.Karen is married to Richard who is a freelance copy-editor and they have two adult children who live in Bristol and Basingstoke.
