Inaugural Cathedral Schools Day a great success
Posted on Tuesday 23 October 2012
Over 600 children from schools across Norfolk descended on Norwich Cathedral on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th October for the inaugural Norwich Cathedral Schools Days.
The event, organised by Norwich Cathedral and the Diocese of Norwich, attracted the largest number of school children for a singular event of its type and took place within the Cathedral and Hostry Visitor & Education Centre. An action packed programme of activities saw participants get a full taste of the creative arts taking part in dance, drama, gospel music and art and craft workshops themed around the person and life of Jesus through music and song.
Teachers and pupils were thrilled with the programme and Kathryn Wright, Education RE adviser at the Diocese of Norwich, commented, “I am delighted with how the schools days went. Over 600 school children from across Norfolk attended and we have received a fantastic response from pupils and staff alike. I would like to thank Norwich Cathedral for hosting the event and look forward to planning the next programme of activities!”
Highlighting the success of the event, Juliet Corbett, Schools Officer at Norwich Cathedral, added, “The event has been a huge success. We have thoroughly enjoyed welcoming hundreds of pupils from across Norfolk. The children have had a great time and the schools days are a real highlight in a busy programme of school events taking place at the Cathedral throughout the year. It has been a real pleasure to host the event and we look forward to the next schools days with anticipation”.
