A chance for the community to be heard
Parent Governor of St Peter & St Paul Academy, Flt Lt Matt Lang coordinated the group of 29 trainee junior officers. The group were led by Flying Officer Danny McDermid, and spent the day painting, woodstaining, replacing an old and making a new sandpit and lid, weeding, and preserving bespoke wooden huts.
Hannah Wheeler, Headteacher at the Academy said:
"We were so pleased to welcome them! It was a brilliant day filled with a willing, smiling, happy workforce, that were here to complete a community project. The main idea was to improve the grounds for our pupils, but to generally improve our outdoor play spaces and preserve the wooden amenities that we already have.
"A phenomenal number of jobs have been completed to a really high standard. The comradery and good spirits were flowing all day, and their helpfulness and interest in the school were commendable.
"On behalf of the children, parents, staff, governors and community I would like to thank them for their efforts leading up to and on the day. We are so appreciative of the work they have completed."
